Cancelling Visa and Work Permit Question

Featured Replies

I will soon be cancelling my Visa and Work Permit in Bangkok. I have a couple of questions if anyone can answer (I have looked at previous posts but there seems to be mixed information regarding the 7 days).

1. When I cancel my visa and WP on my last working day, do you get a 7 days extension or do you have to leave the country that day?

2. As I understand, there is a 7 days extension, however, is there a charge for this?

3. If you get the 7 days extension do you have to show onward travel? I was planning on going to Laos for a SETV.

Any info, gladly appreciated.

1. No

Unless using the one stop center for BOI companies and etc.

2. You have to apply for an extension, pay 1900 baht and be granted 7 days to leave the country after it is denied.

3. No

You can also go to immigration a few days before the date you job ends to cancel your extension and they will post date the extension to that day which would allow you time to leave the country.

Thanks UbonJoe. This is where I am getting confused as a couple of friends were given 7 days without having to pay extension.

So you do literally have to leave that day from Bangkok unless you apply for extension too? Madness rule if so as not really even possible unless fly.
