PM says he won’t invoke special power to solve poll ballot controversy

 

 

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha insisted today that he has nothing to do with the controversial new ballot design of the Election Commission and would not invoke his executive power to solve the problem.

 

He said the poll ballot issue is the sole responsibility of the EC.  He was responding to charges that he might have a role in influencing the EC to change the format of the ballots to be used in the February-24 election.

 

The new ballot design has kicked up a storm among politicians as it carries only the names of the candidates without their party affiliations and their logos. They are afraid voters would be confused and would not be able to identify the parties they want to vote for.

Well, I believe him. It isn't like he has overturned elections, violated the people's right to vote, interfered with the EC, taken away people's right to protest, abused his own power to grant himself and his pals immunity for everything, started his own political party while denying that right to others, utilized government resources for campaign rallies (excuse me, "mobile Cabinet meetings") etc etc etc.

 

Obviously, his overriding goal is to have 'Free and Fair' elections.

 

Bravo!

What's sarcasm? Is that like a disease? Can I be infected? 

This guy and his group needs to be taken out. Such pieces of trash.

What controversy?

Where.....?

As expected the the general election, is engineered to elect a general. 

Well you have to believe him.

Such an honest upstanding person, who would never do anything for personal gain, or lie to the people.

No need to invoke special powers whatsoever.

 

Just as long as everyone knows what is expected...

Why would he need to use Section 44? He has told the EC what they require and the EC will do just that. No need for S44.

This from the man who also wasn't going to interfere in the new rule, Article 4, ensuring declarations of wealth for executives of state organisations. Which, of course, he has just done, cancelling the need and leaving it to his lame and tame NACC. Believe this man at your peril.

If the story gets picked up by international media,  he will do  something.   No surprise that he would help civil servants hide their assets, but not allow political parties brand themselves on the ballot.

He preferred to use his special power to legalize selective corruption instead:

Meaning we have already paid those Isaan and Southerner people for their vote, if they don't see the party name on the ballot, they won't know who paid them.

I guess we are all saying the something, whatever he does to ensure his will is enforced will be behind the scenes since the only correct action is to leave the logos on the ballot which is exactly what he told his lap dog not to do.
