recent Hanoi experiences?

Featured Replies

hoping to get an EDU visa as painlessly as possible soon in Hanoi. If that falls through (unreliable school), a tourist visa. Has anyone had any recent experiences in Hanoi?

Last week very good. My flight out of thailand was in 3 months (had not realised) so no good for 60 days visa, let me book a flight there and sent them the flight details by email which they printed off.

In my experience, they are less than friendly, but at least I got my visa.

Went there in October. At first they insisted I needed to print my flight details myself, but after I hassled them, they finally agreed to let me email them, but they weren't very happy about it.

I would recommend printing your docs yourself.

My  total experience with Vietnam was 100% opposite yours.

You said.."In my experience, they are less than friendly".

I found the people  in Vietnam incredibly friendly as well as helpful.

Sorry your experience was not so good.

I wasn't referring to the people in Vietnam.

I was referring to the Thai Embassy at Hanoi. I should have worded it better.

I suspect you have not applied at many embassies/consulates if you think a reluctance by Hanoi to print the documents needed to support your application was being "unfriendly". Almost no consulates would have done that at all. They would have insisted that you go away and get all the required documents before allowing you to apply.

I on the other hand found Hanoi quite lenient. For me, when I was missing an incoming flight booking which had my name on it (My printout had no name) They used their phone to take a photo of the incoming flight booking confirmation email on my phone.
