Teach Math Or English

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience teaching the subject of mathematics? Level M3(junior high school).

I am stuggling between making this decision:

Teach English in Nakhon Sawan to Kindergaten = 28,500 K plus I can make an extra 10-15k per month for private lessons

private school

OR

Teach Mathematics in Suratthani to (high school)= 34k

government school

I've taught English and M1 Math at a govt. school. At least you're being offered more for teaching math. If other things were equal, I'd go for the math (looks better on your resume, has less competition, etc.). Things are never equal between two job offers. Good luck.

M3 level math is the core algebra for the high school curriculum: solving moderately complicated equations, factoring of all kinds (up to quadratic and the simpler cubic forms), linear programming, coordinate geometry, basic functions. It would be best if you'd had some higher level math to feel comfortable about teaching this.

Your qualifications may matter in terms of paperwork. The private school may require (and they may not even know it yet) an education degree to get through the teacher's license process (required for private schools, but not public). You need to check into all of these things very carefully before making your choice.
