Most likely  a magnesium product or perhaps aluminum. As the munitions, and that is what it is considered under Thai law, is most likely not certified nor produced in accordance with  internationally accepted safety and quality standards, I would expect other products used in an illegal and unsafe manner.

They used to make some big ones; went higher than a 2 a storey building.

If you set them off near your car you will need a new paint job !!!

 

Seeing these reminds me of a really funny episode some years back , will fill in later when I have time to write.

We got them at Mae Chok market. Medium sized only but certainly good enough. Still concerned about risk. We had 4 and they blew up to 4 meter high
