Teen with loaded handgun caught heading to Patong New Year countdown

PHUKET: Police apprehended a 17-year-old boy carrying a loaded handgun in Patong as he was heading to celebrate the New Year countdown on Monday night (Dec 31).

 

Patong Police Chief Col Anothai Jindamanee confirmed that a 17-year-old boy has been charged with possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition, and unlawfully carrying a firearm and ammunition in a public place.

 

The boy, who the officers identified only as ‘Luan’, was caught with a home-made .38-calibre pistol and one .38-calibre bullet.

It looks like a semi-auto, but is probably just a single shot. without an ejector. 

 

Looking at this gun, the person on the wrong end of the barrel wouldn't know this, so, yes, "impressive" in appearance.

38 rimfire would be a very unusual round for Thailand.

The bullet shown appears to be the normal 38 centrefire commonly available everywhere in the world.

I wanted to see the other side of the gun. 

 

I suspect there may be something similar to "a bolt" or, the mechanism on the back of the grip may slide down, allowing a round to be chambered. 

 

Then, it could be just a simple hammer with a firing pin. 

 

The trigger mechanism is interesting.  It appears fixed to the trigger guard. 

 

An interesting firearm.
