Question on retirement visa/extention

Featured Replies

hello.

my retirement visa runs out December 30th 2019.

i have to leave thailand at the latest 10 November for about 3 months

is there any way round this?

thank you

Graham Beasley

Your immigration office might (unlikely) let you apply in early November, but you’d probably need to give them a good reason. The maximum is usually 45 days early.

What is your age and the country you’ll be in during your 3 months away?

I note that you are in Pattaya. Using an agent, you can renew your retirement extension up to 60 days in advance. This is, in principle, perfectly legal as immigration has discretion on how far in advance to allow extensions. If you satisfy all the other requirements for a retirement extension, the agent fee should be pretty low. However, behind the scenes the recent "no tipping" directive is being flouted, so choose a good agent who knows the ropes.

thank you for your answers...i am73  and will be travelling to Holland

Do these new rules still allow for monthly pension banked into Thai bank supplemented by amount lodged and kept in a Thai Bank. My state and private pensions at current rate is 500K+ but I have permanent funds that make it up to over the required amount, or

is it only ‘one or the other’ in future?
