Update Thai Visas in Penang

me and my GF has been in Penang for NON-ED VISA, i give all documents to an agency to do all and have a free time.

At the appointment with agency i lose around 2 hours for the queue, anyway when was my moment the man of agency say you have 3 tourist visa and you will not get ed visa at 80%. i say, i make an ed visa because i dont want to do more Tourist visa, so i did the correct thing, is what thai governement want(the correct step), he repeat to me, i am not sure you will get, if not your money will be not returned to you, i say ok, try to do, but i want receipt of embassy where they write rejected, so i am sure it is not a scam from agency.

Anyway the agency got to embassy and real submit the documents, but the day later when we got to agency to pick up the passports, we receive to recipt, and need to go to embassy because they want to look us in person.

All persons with work permit and ed visa ask to go in embassy. So agencies for these service is not raccomanded, better submit documents alone.

anyway we go to embassy, and they give these 2 questions: what you will do in thailand, so offcourse you will answer i go to school to learn language, wich language want to learn? here take attention, because if your school write on document thailand language but you request to learn english or others you get in trouble.

So before give documents to embassy, please check what languages your school write on documents, because maybe school to make it easy always write thai, if your answer is not correct they go to cancel your visa.

my gf go to school to learn english, and when she answer: i go to learn english, but on document was written thailand.

The officer say if on document there is written thailan and you answer english i am going to cancel your visa, so he ask again what language you are going to study? i say him: sir i am not here to lie you, really my girl friend is russian she only speack italian and russia, i dont want lie you, she need to learn english, what we request to the school, he say ok if the answer is wrong i cancel your visa.

we wait 10 minutes before he came back and say, your answer was wrong, but i give you visa, but i remark in black down to your visa that you give me wrong answer.

The officer was pretty good with us, he understand the situation, that the school wrong to write on document !!!

i write this because, when you get documents from your school check better all informations, Penang embassy is going to be very hard.

Now my girl friend have to start learn thai language and not english, otherwise we get problems from imigration at extension f the visa.

Another info i got is: is not important in what embassy you got your tourist visa, after 3 TV you will get a warning, maybe you get your TV but next time you cannot have it!

Yes, Penang is reported to count all Tourist Visas in a passport now.  See my old post here for more on maximizing Tourist Visas per-passport:

... but keep an eye out on this site for news about the Vientiane consulate (which I listed as "easy" in that post), to see if things change there, beyond making appointments in-advance.

 

Also, be careful where you enter the country - all land-borders except Poipet/Aranyaprathet are reported as OK.  Getting denied entering by air can be a nightmare.
