Our picture today shows a Khon Kaen woman called Niphaporn, aged 29, pointing at the two men who snatched her pink shoulder bag as she rode on a motorcycle taxi to the Ambassador Hotel in Jomtien, Pattaya.

The thieves were named as Christian, 21, and his mate Choke-arun, 24. They were riding a Yamaha R3 (a bike of about 300cc) in the early hours of Thursday morning.

While Christian did the riding Choke-arun did the grabbing outside Jomtien Talay Pao restaurant at 3am.

They got an iPhone and cash worth a total of over 100,000 baht, said Sanook.

Police used CCTV to trace the thieves to the Rom Pho market where they were arrested along with the phone and the victim's ID card.

They had spent all the money on nights out.

Pattaya station chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch whose men took the miscreants on a reenactment said that the thieves had no previous criminal record.

They admitted the theft and were charged with using a conveyance to steal.

The big bike should be sold and money given to the young lady

Scum thieves, dont care if they injure the victim by snatching from moving scooters. It doesnt seem as prevalent here as in London though, where the crime seems to be both violent and common.

Did these scumbags got away with it??? in the old times when a thief was caught they use to cut their fingers off, depending on the gravity or repetition of the offense different number of fingers were cut off..... by doing something like that they surely would think twice before doing it again

was just told by some guests coming from KL, it's very common down there mainly around shopping malls

Glad you don't set the punishments for screwing up in life, I would have gone through life, since I was ten years old with no fingers when I nicked a mars bar from the local shop :shock1:

100,000 Thai Baht spent on a night out (just a couple/few hours????????????????

And this involved the PATTAYA POLICE????????????

Most likely the police recovered 'MOST' of the money and split it up on the spot (keeping some for the 'chiefs, as normal) and wrote up the report that the phone was recovered and the 'criminals' had spent ALL the money on a night out.....

Don't forget what police was involved and also.......... TIT ..... (This Is Thailand)

AND GUESS that you are probably so lucky to have ANY fingers.... Hands...... Wrists..... or even arms. left NOW............ LOL ..........

Spit guards on but no cuffs and she is pointing low they could be in painful trouble hopefully????

Now now, you don't know that. We all know lost money, when found, is returned 100% to the owner by police!

Christian eh? That's not a Thai name.

Nice finger pointing by the young lady, I give it a 9/10 as it could be improved a bit. I like that her and the two thieves are concerned about the air pollution in Pattaya and are wearing masks to protect their health but unfortunately it's not the N95 masks.

Must have been a good night to spend 100,000 Baht, that’s my monthly spend including rent, food, 10 beers a day and some bootie.

Now I have heard it all about the ridiculous things the police do.  Why would they arrest a phone and the victim's ID card?  Just curious.

'nuf sed

Did they know she was carrying that amount of money?

Better safe than sorry.

Christian is 1/2 and1/2?

Good that the police are protecting the miscreants against the pollution.

This Christian guy looks like half Thai to me, his dad probably left him and the Thai mother behind and no financial support from home.

Just pure speculations of course.

The robbery took place on Thursday morning with the photo op seemingly happening on the Monday (28th) per the date of the press report. So the mention of 'nights out' in the OP seems correct in suggesting more than one night on the tiles to spend the ill gotten gains. Trebles all round plus a floosie or ten!!
