Frequent change of address and Notification of stay (90 day report)

Featured Replies

I stay in Thailand based on a Non-Immigrant-O-Visa with a 1 year extension. After my last arrival in Thailand (by plane) I stayed 9 weeks in the same location, a rented Condo. For the next 2 month I plan to travel INSIDE Thailand, without leaving the country. I terminated the contract with the Condo to save the costs whilst my absence. My journey include the complete period in which I have to notify immigration about my stay ( 90 days minus 15 days, plus 7 days) My registered address will change frequently in this period because I will stay in different hotels or guesthouses, at different places  INSIDE Thailand. I plan to do the notification personally at an immigration office.

I want to fullfil my reporting obligations and notify immigration (form TM 47) about my stay.

QUESTIONS:

1. Can I report to responsible immigration in one of the (changing) locations where I stay in the relevant time frame (75 day to 97 day of my stay)?

2. Or do I have to report to responsible immigration in the location where I stay exactly at the 90th day?

3. Assuming the hotel fullfil the reporting obligation; How much time it need that the "Notification of Stay" counter can access my reported address?

4. The adddress reporting in Jomtien was easy, no additional copies needed. But in worst case: Which documents I have to copy for the Reporting (incl. TM 47 formular)? Its much more convenient to make an additional copy beforehand which maybe not is used than to  start copying when in front of immigration officer.

5. Any experience with this matter?

Thanks

1. You have to formally change your address every time you report to a different office by submitting a TM28 change of address form.

2. No

3. You would need a new completed TM47 form showing your new address.

If you had a address where you could have the receipt for a mailed in 90 day report to be sent to it might be much easier. Or try using online reporting using the same address you used for reporting in Jomtien before.

Thank you ubonjoe.

I think that I dont understand the process and interaction of "90 day Notification based on TM 47" and the "address reporting by the host of a foreigner (hotel etc) based on TM 30". I was assuming that this both reportings are a kind of interconnected, and the information of one process just verify the information of the other process.

Or are this totally different processes like:

1. NOTIFICATION OF USED ACCOMODATION PROCESS

- foreigner is information source to immigration

- starting every time with arrival in Thailand, based on the information, given by foreigner himself, in arrival card

- Verified every 90 days, based on Notification of stay (TM 47)

- New address Notification, based on TM 28

2. ADDRESS REPORTING PROCESS - TM30

- owner of accomodation is information source to Immigration

- informs immigration about accomodation of a foreigner, based on form TM 30

Regarding process "TM30": Gets the immigration also information when a foreigner departs from a accomodation? If yes, is this information (given by the host?) mandatory, unsolicited, non-obligatory?

In case the firstly reported address is not valid any longer, and the address Notification by TM 28 has not been done properly for some weeks, for changing locations:

- Is a missing address notification by TM 28 comprehensible for immigration?

- Do immigration actually care about failures to report the address change (TM 28), and verify the data (maybe based on the information in TM 30 forms)?

- What can be the consequences in case of failure to report via TM 28?

We will first travel to the home of my girlfriend and stay there longer time before we do a trip around Thailand. I hope the following solution will work: I will change my address by TM 28 to the house of my girlfriend (also if we will sleep in a local hotel). Than do 90 days reporting to the local immigration. I hope this work. Or not?

The TM30 is a notification from the Housemaster, Owner, or the Possessor of the residence where an alien has arrived and will be staying.

The TM28 is a notification from the alien as to a change in their registered address.

The TM47 is a notification of staying more than 90 consecutive in Thailand.

They are separate requirements, but the 90 day report can only be made within the Province where you have registered your address. If you move and want to make a 90 day report at a different IO, then you will have to formally notify a change of address. (Comply with a TM28 and TM30).

There is no linkage between TM30 reporting and 90 day reporting.

If you stayed at one place a TM30 form would only be done once and the 90 report every 90 days if you stay in the country that long.

Every time you report to a new office you will need to do a change of address. Some office accept just the TM30 report and no TM28 form is needed.
