Visa based on marriage

Featured Replies

I am married with 2 children, living near Bangkok. I have been on an extension of stay for the last few years based on marriage, Unfortunately

due to treatment costs for my disabled daughter, which were unexpectedly far higher than normal I do not have the 400k to show this year.

I have income from outside the country. I know you can show 40k a month income but I don't know if this income has to

be from inside Thailand. What is my best visa option? and what are the requirements for it?

Thank you in advance to all those who reply with helpful information.

Your income should be from outside of Thailand. You have to be working legally to use income earned in Thailand.

If you are from a country that issues proof of income documents you can use one to prove your income.

If not you need to to show the 40k baht transferred into a Thai bank account. Since it is a fairly new rule you would only need a month or 2 of transfers into the country.

If you are unable to apply for the extension you could get a multiple entry non-o visa that allows unlimited 90 day entries for a year from the date of issue. The consulate in Savannakhet, Laos issue them without financial proof.

Thank you for your response, so 2 transfers of 40k a month should suffice from a UK bank account.

Also is there anywhere else apart from Savannakhet that issues them?

The more the better it would be. It depends upon when your extension is due.

For the next extension you would need 12 months of them.

The consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam will issue them without financial proof.

Penang with financial proof.

My extension is due March 23rd, so only have time for 2, is it worth going to immigration before this to check if they will accept.

You could check with them since you will of not had time to do more than 2. The rules did not go public until January so there is no way that you could have more than two or at the most 3.
