Change of bank for immigration requirement of 800K in bank method

Featured Replies

I'm starting to lean towards the 800K in bank method when renewing my retirement visa when I not any more can use income letter from embassy as it is clearly the easiest from what I understand from the immigration forum on AN. The alternative is monthly transfers. For now, the 800K is in Bangkok Bank but I was in contact with Krungsri at the latest today as I have a savings account there and for a change when I asked about a fixed interest account. No problem to open an account and I was told that both the annual statement and bank letter could be done on the day or more correctly immediately when needed said the bank employee. I think about having the 800K standing all year-round what kind of time perspective is recommended? 12 / 24 / 36 or 48 months. The interest rates are ridiculous, but what does immigration prefer to see?

Thanks

You can use an FD account no problem.

Previously I did that. I just took a 12 month term.

It then automatically rolls over to new interest rate at that time.

With their rates so bad suggest just opt for 12 month when setting it up.

Immigration doesn't prefer anything other than showing 800k + for previous 12 months (that includes two months prior to application.

huh Hope I misunderstand but you say 800K for previous 12 months😕 I thought i it was 2 months before not 12 months. However, the money is here but now in Bangkok Bank, and I was planning to transfer to Krungsri next month if I do not get a document verified my address in Thailand. If I get that I can open a FD account with them (well that's the latest from Bangkok Bank)

If you are looking to do FD account then almost everyone would be planning to just have dedicated account for immigration maintaining 800k + all year round.

Of course that's not required.

The financial obligations have been stated many times

2 months before for the very first extension application, thereafter 12 month statement to evidence you complied with the requirements of keeping 800K for 3 months after the extension is granted, then at least 400K for 7 months, topped up to 800K again 2 months prior to the next extension application.

Of course if you intend to open an FTD account then that will just show the 800K was kept in the account for the full 12 month period.

(2019) 35-2561 - changed clause 2.22 of 327-2557 ENG.pdf

I recently opened a 2 year FTD account with an interest rate of 0.9%.
At the end of the 12/24/36 month term the interest will revert to that of a normal savings account, unless you renew for another term.

I have a Krungsri account for the 800k, i think it's the MJD account and pays 0.9% better than nothing i guess, withdrawals allowed which is better although I leave the 800k there all year
