Yeah, mostly the same memories. First time I went I was asked at the pier in Ban Phe if I had accommodation, I said no, so she booked us in to a bungalow on sai kaew. Totally ripped off. It was disgusting and filthy, it was so bad I slept on the beach. I think the road did continue further but it was very very rugged. It's a lot better now. But back in the old days if you rented a speedboat from Ban Phe they could drop you directly on whichever beach you wanted so you could travel to the further resorts easily. They have stopped that now and all speed boats drop you at the main pier, and it is kind of better. I still prefer to stay on Sai Kaew purely because of the variety of restaurants and things, plus the sand is the nicest. But I always spend one day walking over the headlands to the next few beaches (Ao Pai, Tub Tim, Something Else, a Reggae Beach, and then Wong Duean), and then usually get a songthaew back. Very pretty, but don't fancy doing the walk back in fading light and after a few beach beers. Can't find my picture of Wongdeuan - maybe I didn't take any - but this is it and it is good walk from Sai Kaew over a few headlands. Bit Benidormy though.
