Ranong-Krawtaung visa exempt run.

Featured Replies

I would be grateful to hear from anyone that has done a 30 day visa exempt run to Ranong/Krawtaung recently.

I was wondering if they were allowing visa exempt border runs there and also if they still allow you to stay a few days in Krawthaung for the 10 dollar Myanmar stamp, without having to get a proper Myanmar visa?

It will be my first visa exempt since 2017.

Thanks,

Mickey

No problem to get a 30 day visa exempt entry there.

Not sure about the length of stay using a Myanmar border pass but I have read posts it was good for a stay near the crossing for a few days.

You must tell them (Myanmar immigration) that you will be staying overnight.  Otherwise they will likely assume you are leaving the same day and will stamp you in/out the same day.

No problems. I've stayed for a few days. Reminds me of a Starwars trading post. Don't forget to take a nice unfolded $10 bill. Be wary if you have a pasport full of excemptions and TV's - last time I went someone was getting shit from Ranong immigration.

I used that crossing one, never again. I always go the   "Club Andman"  crossing much quicker and much more comfortable with less 'hassle'   no new $US10 needed.  and one gets a ride in a cabin cruiser rather than a Longtail exposed to all weathers.

How and where can you book the visa trip with Andaman Club. We are staying near Khaolak. Thanks folks.

Me too.

What is this about? The Andaman Islands?

A boat service from the Khao Lak beach area ? to the Andamans for a border run?

The Andaman Club is a hotel / casino on it's own island 15 minutes across the water from Ranong. Get yourself to Ranong and find a taxi to the pier to The Andaman Club. No appointment needed. Go to the immigration desk marked "Arrivals" it is also "Departures" but no signage that I saw. Stamp out. Turn around and go the the big counter on your left. They make a copy of your passport and you pay....I don't remember - might have been 1000 baht. That gets you there and back on their boats and gets your passport stamped in Myanmar. They have a duty free in the hotel that can offset the fee a little if you are in the market for something.

I went over to Koh Chang (Noi) today, which is roughly the same sea-crossing as going to Kawthaung.  Weather is good and no problem if taking a long tail to Kawthaung.

Be aware that if you stay overnight in Kawthaung, you have to stay in a hotel that has a licence for foreign guests.  The Honey Bear Hotel (I love that name!) has a licence, but most foreigners seem to stay at the Pelican Hotel, just a few streets back.
