Does anyone know what the bouy strings off the cha am beach today are for?  From the beach they're strung all the way south down towards Hua Hin??  Box jellies??

could be for birds to perch on !!!!!! and have a rest !!

I swam out to one. There is no net attached, so not for jellies or sharks. Not too well anchored as I saw one washed up on shore 2 weeks ago. 

 

Also there are large gaps between the bouy strings. 

Somebody told me they are markers for a boat race that has/will be held. 

 

That's all I know, but they're still there today.
