Printed document doesn't fit the page (A4)

Usually a print function of PDF reader (which one do you use?) is capable to print only a selected range of pages and to adapt to print borders.

In the case of the NI83 it's pages 41 to 42 of the complete document.

Have you tried?

Still annoying: the form then comes out "small"/"thin" with large borders.

(but complete)

Strange form design assuming it is meant to be printed in A4.

Do you have other paper formats in the UK?

I attach a photo of the printout that I made.

BTW, I am confused what the CF83 is?

Only found this NI38.

And it's obvious that these pages 41 and 42 do not fill an A4 page properly.

See the screenshot of a minimized view.

On top page 40 followed by the slim form.

Thanks KhunBenq, CF83 is the two page portion (marked CF83 at the bottom) that needs to be completed by hand and returned to HMRC. If I haven't cracked it by the time my kids come home from school they might have some ideas.

Your earlier suggestion is something I tried earlier & have just done so again but it didn't make any difference.

CF83 is attached to NI38. It's true that the format of CF83 is totally non-standard. It seems to be a typical HMRC bodge-up.

I think the trick will be to hit Ctrl-P to bring up the print dialogue box, enter 41-42 in the pages box, and tick the box just underneath which says "shrink oversized pages".

It wont be perfect but it should fit.

Thanks. I tried several times but that option hasn't appeared.

Look under "more settings". It may not be there in a browser window though.

Edit: actually it tells you to use Ctrl-Shift-P to bring up the system print box, where you should find the option.

You are using the built in PDF viewer of the browser.

Nice but often crippled/limited. I hate it and do the best to disable it.

Download the form(!) (right click, .. download) and open it with a dedicated PDF viewer (Adobe Reader, FoxIt Reader etc. etc.).
I  use FoxItReader and there the print dialog would look like this:

Unfortunately not. It fits on the page but is too small to be completed by hand.

Is it smaller than the photo of the A4 page printout that I showed in post #2?

This is small, but no better chance.

Sharp pen and a quiet hand required.

Yes, Column 21 is missing from one page & the direct debit column from the other. I've been trying to solve this all day and have just emailed HMRC requesting an alternate format that can ideally be completed electronically (less signature) as they're unlikely to be able to read my handwriting.

Another option might be to try F1 sized paper tomorrow (used for legal docs here) but this shouldn't be necessary as HMRC should be using A4.

I am afraid you can not follow the advice given by KittenKong and me.

Even with the built in PDF reader of Chrome (that you use) there is a "Fit to page" option under "More Settings" as KK suggested. See attached screen shot.

Please reread and try again.

I am running out of ideas.

Thanks KhunBenq; I have installed the reader and am pleased to confirm that I now have the form. If HMRC come back overnight with one I can fill in electronically that'll be even better 'cos my handwriting looks like Rolf Harris has been at it with a 4" paint brush but I guess that's another matter.

I'm looking forward to getting the completed form posted tomorrow and forgetting about it.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

Maybe an idea. Take the file to a Printshop, ask them to print it on A3, shrunk to fit the up and bottom border, with a marigin, Keeping the ratio. Then cut the excess paper. Then you could get the form that it supossed to be.

Rgds,

Thanks. I sent it yesterday so lets see what HMRC make of it in a month or so.
