Has there ever been stories of blacklisted travelers for overstay who successfully reentered Thailand after the ban expired?

Featured Replies

I used the search feature but couldn't find any, which is odd since a lot of the 1 and 3-year bans are coming to an end.

My ban expires in September. I'll share what happens

My advice would be to fly to a neighbouring country and enter Thailand by land. The reason is that, even if your blacklisting has officially ended, and you would be able to successfully argue your case once you arrive in Thailand, you might not have been removed from relevant lists. There is a danger that the Advance Passenger Information System that links the airline with Thai immigration might generate a DNB (do not board) notification from Thai immigration. This is not accompanied by any explanation, and is cannot be appealed

Yes.

As long as you enter after the ban expires you shouldn’t have a problem. But you’re best advised to enter with a visa and not to usevisa exemption.

You should have a stamp in your passport and/or paperwork confirming when the ban ends.

People have entered after the ban but you could have a problem boarding your flight to since the ban is not automatically removed when it ends from immigrations database and may still appear when the airline submits your info to immigration for pre approval.

There was a member who entered after his ban and then returned home last year. But the next time tried to board a flight to here he was denied due it not being removed from the system. He was able to contact a friend here who was able to contact immigration to have it cleared from the system.
