Business Visa Needed Or Not

I am Australian and living in SIngapore, I travel to Bangkok on business 2-3 times a month on trips that last between 2-5days.

I have checked my days in country since 1st Oct and its 31 days.

I called the Thai Emb here in Singapore to just clarify entry and was told that any business trip you should apply for a single entry visa and that if you dont get one and the immigration officer questions you for reasons entering the country you may be denied entry.

In reality should I go and get a visa?

If I do get a single entry visa and in the future I enter Thailand as a tourist is there any concerns here.

If you are coming to Thailand on business, you need to get a business visa not on a tourist visa or visa exemption stamp.

Since you come 2-3 times a month, it will pay you to get multiple entry visa from the Embassy/Consulate.

If they will only give a single you can keep it alive for the month with a re-entry permit,

1000baht for single or 3900baht for multiple.
