Two Persian cats suffocated to death after a fire broke out in a room at the National Housing Estate in Nonthaburi’s Pak Kret district on Thursday morning.

The two cats were found barely breathing in the flat after 10 fire engines took about 40 minutes to put out the blaze. The cats died shortly after they were taken out of the room.

Flat owner, 62-year-old Sansiya Chuenchaiyasit, told police that she ran out for help when she saw smoke coming out of the balcony and did not think to take the cats with her.

Police have yet to investigate the cause of the fire.

I presume the owner probably couldn't be persuaded to persevere, but parted in her performance in preserving the pair of Persian cats that perished in their passing to paradise.
