Leicester City team in town to pay last respects to their boss

Leicester City soccer players and staff arrived in Thailand on Wednesday to pay their final respects to their boss, Mr. Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, founder and former chairman of King Power International Group, at a Royal cremation ceremony to be held this evening  at Wat Thepsirin.

 

The English Premier League team is led by its new manager Brendan Rodgers and captain Wes Morgan.  They are due to fly back to England on Saturday.

 

Vichai and four others, including the pilot, died in a helicopter crash outside the King Power stadium in the UK on October 27th last year after a home game against West Ham United. British aviation investigators later found that the accident had been caused by a malfunctioning tail rotor control mechanism.

Have they given up on this season? Couldn't management waited til season over? I'm sure it wouldn't bother the deceased owner.... talk about a long trip that surely couldn't help the team in their current struggles in EPL.

Vichai cremation arrivals

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers and several first-team players arrived in Bangkok on Wednesday to attend Thursday’s cremation of late team owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprapha at Thepsirin temple.

 

 

Rodgers who only replaced Claude Puel at King Power Stadium last month, has also arrived with captain Wes Morgan, strikers Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki and Kelechi Iheanacho, plus defenders Danny Simpson and Christian Fuchs.  A total of 41 LCFC representatives attended a ceremony at the temple right after their arrivals. 

 

 

They will take part in a ritual during the ceremony at 6pm on Thursday and will return to England the next day.

 

Vichai died in a helicopter crash outside the Leicester ground on 27 October last year, a tragedy regarded as one of the greatest losses in Thailand sporting history.

He was highly thought of in the Leicester community was the late Vichai and this is a nice respectful gesture for the players to make ..

The ceremony is today, the team are in a two-week period without a match because there are no Premier League matches this weekend, and they are comfortably in mid-table so are hardly struggling. All of which makes your post rather pointless while at the same time focusing on your ignorance. Well done.

Struggling in premier League? Not in a battle to stay up and 3 points off Europe, I'd say that's a good season.  The Leicester can't really be hoping for more than that. Plus it's an international break so perfect time for this visit. 

Hopefully they can influence the AOT into letting King power maintain their duty free monopoly as well while they are here ????

Its the man’s cremation, the last opportunity for the team to show their respect ????
