Bhumjaithai party remains uncommitted

 

 

Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnvirakul has made clear that the party has not yet decided which of the two camps to join, the Pheu Thai-led or the Palang Pracharat-led coalitions, and will wait until after May 9th when the official election results are expected before announcing any alliance.

 

Mr. Anutin appears to have become a “kingmaker” being wooed by both camps.  The party is expected to win more than 50 parliamentary seats and is widely seen as being crucial in forming a coalition majority.

 

“I confirm that our party will do everything within the scope of the Constitution and that we will make our judgement based on the benefits to the country and the people without fear. Nothing is clearer.” said Mr. Anutin in his online statement as he dismissed as untrue reports suggesting that he has already joined the Palang Pracharat alliance.

Waiting to hear if any of the Pheu Thai coalition parties are disbanded I'd wager so doesn't want to commit to what could yet be the losing side.

Need to be near as possible to the trough, so wait and see - always back the winner. 

This party is just towing the junta line and doing what it's told. The real interesting one will be what the "Democrats" decide to do. If they side with the military then the irony couldn't be thicker and they should at least have the decency to change their party name as it wouldn't be compatible with repression and joining a supremely undemocratic bunch of w******.

They are waiting to see what will happen after the red cards are issued and new by-elections have been held.  If, as is highly probable, PPR ends up with more MPs than PT, both BJT and the Democrats will undoubtedly leap at the chance to form a majority coalition.

 

Right now, they don't want to commit, because they don't want to be part of a minority coalition, they will only join Big Too when they see that he can muster enough votes to actually run Parliament.  They won't want to have anything to do with him if he becomes PM with the backing of the Senate, but can't accomplish anything because of controlling a minority of the MPs!

Possibly not only rural Somchais selling votes?
