Any updates/ recent experiences for SETV Savannakhet?

Featured Replies

Searched the forum and just found posts about Non-O visas and all the confusion and waiting times since Vientiane required pre-booked appointments.  I haven't been to Savannnakhet for a few years.  Did any other requirements ot tightening come with the sudden influx of applicants?  Specifically, do they ask for proof of onward travel?  I was never asked before, but don't know about now. If so, is a throw away bus ticket ok?  I'm leaving in a 2-3 months anyway, but it's far and I'm not sure of the date and destination yet.  Thanks in advance for any helpful info or suggestions.

Yes. You need to show an onward flight booking and a bank statement with at least the equivalent of 20K baht.

Yes, from one post it is busier now...but some did not know there are higher requirements to get SETV

than Vient. and were turned away..backpackers probably coming down from Vient after finding out vient. is booked for days in advance, then showing up at Savanpit to be asked for above...double headache for those who don't keep up-to-date or know things vary from consulate-to-consulate (at the moment anyway).

I think they don't really look for a flight out, just the financials seem important and if you show much higher amounts in your bank overseas. If anyone could confirm on that detail, that would be great.

Wow!  I just saw this!  Have you used this before?  (They do have some great reviews!)

Just need a Thai Bank statement with 20 K Baht in it , as of a few months ago .

Maybe also need to answer some questions if you've already got a few TV'S

Thanks!  So an outbound ticket is not necessary/enforced then?  Especially recently?  You said a few months ago...have you heard of any tightening since they have the influx from Vientiane?  I haven't...just trying to be prepared without wasting money on toss away flights I probably won't use anyway (because I will likely choos another destination.  sh**s in the wind at the moment.

Yes, some people reported back last week , after the influx from Vientiane , that no onward ticket was required .

If they do suddenly want one , just book one there and then online
