I went to do my 90 day report today at Phetchabun Immigration and while there thought I would inquire what would be needed next year(Feb 2020) by way of evidence for the 65,000 a monthly income method for my retirement extension. The staff while helpful are not good at English and my Thai is not sufficient for technical stuff. Anyway the young lady printed me an A 4 sheet with all the relevant information. It's a poor copy and not really good enough for scanning.

It clearly details documents required for money in the bank, combination and income method using an embassy letter along with the conditions that apply(regarding seasoning) but doesn't really address the 65,000 monthly income method without an embassy letter EXCEPT for the final paragraph. This is what it says:

"Applicants who can no longer receive an official pension letter from their relevant embassy the Thai government has granted a grace period in the conditions of visa extension until 31st Dec 2019. The applicant will be able to apply for an extension 45 days before visa expiration by using a bank statement issued and stamped from a bank in Thailand which shows the transactions for the past 12 months"

I tried to clarify this but our language skills didn't run to this.

So what happens after 31st December 2019? My next retirement extension is due in February 2020.

Are there any other reports about similar statements from Thai Immigration?

That is false info or a misunderstanding of a directive that was sent out.

The grace period is for those applying this year that allows them to apply with less than 12 months of transfers going into a Thai bank.

Next year you will have to show 12 months of transfers going into a Thai bank.

This the a translation of new proof of income option that went into effect in December of 2018.

Firstly thank you. I agree with you BUT it is a little worrying that those at the sharp end don't appear to understand the regs as per 1/3/2019

The  new proof of income rule went into effect in December of 2018.

Perhaps you might want to close this topic or transfer it to the regional forum. I have no desire to cause panic, but perhaps members using Phetchabun need to be aware. many thanks
