webfact
Phayao: Three houses destroyed as man saves granny, 87 Caption: I only saw her feet Thai Rath reported that a 62 year old neighbor who saw a fire taking hold rushed in to save an 87 year old Thai grandmother. Petch Konsila said there was thick smoke in the house of Khammee Klaithin or "Yai Pum" and all he could make out were her feet. He dragged her out to safety before going back to rescue a motorbike. Quickly the fire spread to two other houses in the compound in the Chiang Kham police jurisdiction of Phayao in Thailand's far north. When firefighters arrived there were 100 people at the site of the blaze with many engaging in futile attempts to put the fire out. Picture: Thai Rath One woman Mrs Khamkhong Kentha, 53, was seen running out with her one year old grandson. Three houses were completely gutted. Saokaew, 64, Yai Pum's daughter said she lived in one of the houses but was out at the time of the blaze last night. She said the houses were built 32 years ago and still had the original electrics - there might have been a short circuit. Police were keeping an open mind as the district chief and other authority figures provided help and assistance to those made homeless, reported Sanook.
