Hi all,

Am after custom canvasses for painting. My mate wants really big ones, already sealed. Anyone know where they custom make these?

And on the subject of art, there's a big bar looking thing called Piccaso's on the ring road that Rimping is on. ANyone know what this is? Often pass it, never been in. Worth a visit?

Cheers

I'd go to the art dept of a major university and ask there.

If you can't get any big canvases then you might consider using hardboard. It is a dark brown plywood sized material and sometimes has holes drilled every few centimetres in which case it is called peg board. I knew an artist who used this stuff because it was alot cheaper than canvas. I has some of the good characteristics of canvas e.g. it is doesn't deteriorate with time and it is stable when oils are applied.....it has some disadvantages though, one being that it is heavy...another that it can not be rolled up for shipment...another in that it is perfectly smooth so certain techinques used with canvas will not work.
