Hi everyone! I tried searching for answers in other threads, but couldn't see any recent info regarding my question.

 

I am currently on a 60-day extension to 'visit Thai wife', which was issued from my original Non O visa from over 6 years ago. I've been doing 1-year extensions in the past, but because I stopped working recently, I could not get another year since I no longer have a WP (or 400K in the bank).

 

Anyways, I was under the impression that I could still apply for a new WP while on a 60-day extension, but the new company that I will be working for just informed me that I need to go and get a new visa.

 

If it makes any difference, the new company is based in Phuket, so perhaps the labour department there has different requirements. I currently live in Bangkok, so perhaps there's a way that I could somehow convert my Non O extension into a Non-B at Chaeng Wattana -- or even at Phuket immigration if needed. I have until May 4 on my current permission to stay.

Your 60 day extension is an extension of a non immigrant visa entry that you have been extending.

The company is wrong. You can apply for a work permit while on it. You need to be sure a copy of your marriage certificate is submitted with the application.

You cannot change from a non-o visa entry to a non-b visa at immigration. The only way to change a visa category is to apply for a new visa at a embassy or consulate.

I am in the same shoes, just on Non-B. New school submit wp application at Phuket employment office tomorrow or Tuesday the latest. How was the process for you?
