Getting Bad Customers Off The Premises

Sometimes a belligerent drunk may come into a restaurant and start a fight.

Perhaps someone does not want to pay the bill or bothers a waitress.

How does the business owner handle this is a way that

a. does not expose him or others to personal danger

b. does not expose him to legal or other unwritten problems?

The best thing would probably getting a Thai "bulldog" to kick them out. You probably don't want to kick out someone as a Farang..

Do you mean a young muay tai boxer who wants extra money?

This would be one of the 4 thai employees I would need.

The type of person I am thinking of that might cause trouble would be farang drunk coming in after the bars closed, since I plan to be open all night.

(1)Bouncer.

(2)Keep some local Police on retainer.

(3)Stun Gun.

(4)Real Gun.

The first two are probably the best. The latter two will cause more trouble than they're worth.

I just yell and scream at them untill they get out.

Not many ruffians in book shops. :o

if the customer is thai you would be surprised how quickly they can submit to a female admonishing them to go home and sleep- they all have mother complexes.

Often policemen have a second job as security.

That's true, I've seen this on many occasions.

If it's a Farang, I try to handle it in the subtlest manner possible as to not upset the staff or other customers. It's not a good idea to go wacking the problem customer with a pool cue or literally throwing him out on the street as that will only serve in giving you a bad reputation and may see them come back and throw a brick through your window later which will cause more loss. Introduce yourself as the owner and try to talk it out in a calm and friendly manner and act as if the situation is not that big. That should defuse 99% of problems.
