Tourist Visa by Post at Sydney Consulate

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd advise members in NSW applying for a tourist visa via post to allow up to 3 weeks for your passport to get processed.

I sent mine from outside of Sydney so you should allow 3 days in and 3 days out for registered post alone. In all it took 2 weeks and 2 days. I would definitely allow 3 weeks just to be on the safe side.

This is what was required and I supplied the lot:

  • An original and a copy of Passport or travel document with a minimum validity of 6 months
  • Download and complete Visa Application Form
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (3.5 x 4.5 cm) of the applicant
  • Proof of an Australian Electronic Visa (for non-Australian)
  • A bank statement in the past six months showing a deposit account with the minimum fund of THB 20,000 per person, or THB 40,000 per family
  • Confirmed accommodation under your name for the duration of your stay in Thailand
  • Proof of residential address in Australia
  • A copy of airline ticket indicating the date of arrival to and departure from Thailand

If you apply in person then the processing time is 3 days. Example, lodge Monday and then come back Thursday to collect. Make sure you have all documents as they check everything. Good luck and happy travelling.
