:o Sawadee khrap!

My Name is Donnie, I am Thai-American living in the USA. My mother left Thailand circa 1971, and hasn't been back since. From what I'm told, she left family behind, and it's very important to me to find/reunite family as soon as possible.

The address I had was very poor. It was written in Thai, and in fact translated read: "Behind the Train Station". All I know of her past is that she has a sister, several children, and that her maiden name was/is Junpen. She was born in the Sisaket Province.

Anyone who knows of any links I can use to find Governmental aid in finding this family PLEASE contact me (send me a PM). Your help would sooooooooooo be appreciated in seeing a lifelong dream come true!

You could start here........http://www.thaiembdc.org/index.htm

and here.......http://www.eppo.go.th/index_thaigov.html.......This as a HUGE site.

Other then those two sites I could not help you with anything more.

I sure hope that the moderaters of TV will allow these two sites.Being that they are at least Government and not commercial.

Donnie, I've called my friend today and he will help check tomorrow (sorry I realized about this after the office hour). Hopefully, there will be something come up though. The only problem is it requires the full name (First & Last) to do the search. BD Will only help scope down but searching must be with the name only. So I will just try the name you gave me and spells it in Thai.... Sorry for last night, I was disconnected unexpectedly.

Well Donnie don't know if this will help much, but I can tell you how a guy just a yourself did it here in the Udon Area. He had the family name and a vague name and description of a village. His American Father had been stationed here in the Vietnam War. Wasn't really much we could do the village name was spelled wrong so none of us here in Udon could even locate it.

He came here with his Father, Dad really coundn't help much Udon has changed a lot in three decades and he had only been to the village once. I knew a Thai guy here who speaks great english and ha worked at he base when it was here. He works at a local hotel and rents himself and his car out on a daily basis.

They poked around Udon a bit came up with a village that sounded like the right one. About 80 KLMS from here. The first guy they stopped and spoke to at the village and asked about the finding the famly just began crying it was the Americans Uncle.

He spent three days in the village with is family not speaking a word of Thai, the Thais couldn't speak english, so it was three days of some very happy people trying thier best to communicate.

It wrote a very heart warming post on a local forum of his experiences. So don't give up it can be done with very little information.

Good Luck

I think you should try to determine how you will know if you have the correct family before you start telling people details about your mother. There are many people who will want to claim an American as a relative whether true or not.

Another suggestion could be to place a poster mentioning the name and your email address at the train station or the 7-11 on thanon ratchagan rotfai 3.

"Behind the train station" in Sisaket Province may also be referring to Uthumpton Phisai or Kantharom and not Sisaket Town at all. The communities in these towns are generally closer and easier to search.

Hi Friends...

Thanks so much for all the replies. I do know that my mom lived in Sisaket City. Since finding an address, she (my mother) was much more flowing with information. I'll keep everyone updated when I have information available.
