Banking in India.

I'm thinking of going to India for at least a few  months.

Ineed to know the best way to get my money while I'm there.

The last time I was in India I brought travelers checks.

 

I have an Irish debit card so I could use that at the ATM.

Or is there a cheaper  way.

I think you can open an Indian bank account on a tourist visa,

if I then transferred money to it by transferwise would that be cheaper.

 

What do most people do these days.
