I was wondering what all these wonderful test drive reports about the new Nissan Navarra in the Thai press (Bangkok Post and Nation) are based on. I saw only very, very few on the road up to now.

Is it only a coincidence that the Nissan Head is doing big (mouthed) interviews in the same papers shorly afters some great reviews?

I think the car has to prove itself against strong competitors in daily use first and it's not enough to come up with some strong numbers, especially when Nissan in the U.S. at the same time has some serious problems regarding built quality and reliablility as latest reports state.

In my opinion Nissan Thailand came up (too?) late in the market with the Navarra and is now trying everything (including a "Sorry" / "Thank you for waiting" - campaign) to secure some market shares. before the Navarra came out some dealers did not sell a single car (despite the new Tida) for weeks and where pretty upset.

I can only hope that Thai motor journalists are independent as well as objective and not as corrupt as many of their fellow state officials.

We customers deserve some reliable sources, don't we?

And your point is ?? Obviously you don't like Nissan is about all I gather from your post. ALL new vehicles have reviews and test drives reported before they are on the market. I have a 2004 Frontier and other than service it has never been in the shop. I also had a Toyota and traded it on a new car. I KEPT the Nissan because I think it is a better truck. :o

Thanks for your contribution! My point is that I would like from owners of the new Navarra about their experiences.

I don't "hate" Nissan because I was actually looking into buying one. But as a potential and sceptical buyer I would like to question the reliablity of sources which are supposed to be objective.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a test where the main contenders are driven and compared by "normal" people (like us?) ...

A couple of weeks ago there was a short discussion on it in this forum http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/lofiversion/...hp/t107540.html

the last posting gives a link to some disappointing owner reviews from some UK magazine. Most reviewers rate the truck even though there seems to have been some serious problems especially with the rear axle as i recall, but can't be sure. The truck has been out in the UK for a while and presumably has different specs than the one here.
