This is confusing me, you start on Thursday of next week, which would be 9th May?

The reality is, and posted at immigration already, they are closed 6th and 9th of May. Plus the weekends of course.

everytime I have been there they open the doors at 7:45 to start giving out numbers and start working at 8:30

8:30am to 4:30pm is correct - they open the doors about 8am and hand out queue numbers, but usually will not call first numbers until 8:30am or a little after.  Also, be aware they close for lunch from noon til 1pm.

I was there yesterday- almost empty - 10 mins to get a re- entry permit. So good time to go at the moment .

Get there at 10- or about 1.30 - I personally never see the point of getting there at the crack of dawn and queuing- just my opinion.

If you are confused I suggest you take it up with Immigration as that is where that information apparently comes from.

Yesterday was very special day because it is holiday for many Thais but not for immigration people meaning many do not come because they think immigration closed.

I visited monday to get extension to touristvisa just before they start lunch break.. Not bad was that either.. In and out maby within 10 minutes..A bit of oddness was that IO who took my application just took money and stamped my passport right away. Usually you are told to wait a bit..Excellent i must say,,:)

No, you caused the confusion by adding the phrase 'for the next week'. But worry not, I am easily confused and I saw another notice, with the date sensibly included, suggesting they would be closed 6th and 9th. What you posted suggests they will be open and 'Hours may differ' is not very informative.
