I agree with most of what you claim. Although not the part about a major depression. Its economy on the whole certainly isn't doing well. It's hard to trust its GDP figures especially since reporting on internal figures without authorization from the government can lead to the death penalty. Hardly an incentive for an investigative journalist. Xi is basically a dedicated Socialist who keeps on having to grudgingly concede ground that the has taken back form the private sector of the Chinese economy, a sector that used to be larger than the government owned one. Not anymore.His dilemma is that if he allows a lot more freedom to the private sector, that means the relative power of the Party diminishes. Still, none of that takes away from how rapidly the Chinese technological sector is growing and advancing.
