Ok, lets say if a foreigner got a retirement visa, then can his son/daughter stay in Thailand with him using an O visa?

If a parent has an extension of stay their children can get extension based upon being a member of their family until they reach the age of 20.

Some embassies and consulates may issue a single entry non-o visa when a child is over 20.

As I wrote they  can get a single entry non-o visa that allows one 90 day entry if over 20 at some embassies and consulate.

some embassies? Why not all? Can Xe extend Xis visa after the 90 day stay?

Because some will enforce the age limit of 20 and other will not.

If over 20 there is not extension you could apply for.

???? which one allows 20+s to do the visa? What happens after the 90 days?

My Thai/Brit daughter, living in the UK, ( does not have a Thai passport) was refused a single Non O at the London Embassy and told she could only have a multi O. no idea why. However, she did not have to produce any financials, just confirm that she was coming to see her Mum and me.

OP, why not let your son/daughter call the Thai embassy in their country? Can't be more conclusive than that.
