Filthy dirty Pattaya beach - tourists blamed for the mess

Sophon TV said that a 2.6 kilometer stretch of the beach in Pattaya was a filthy mess.

And according to a local operator it is tourists that are to blame.

From North to South Pattaya the beach is a disgrace, said the news organisation on Facebook.

The water is black and horrible.

The tide line in particular is strewn with plastic bags, beer bottles, spirit bottles, discarded tins of cooling powder foam containers and everything else you can think of.

They quoted Ladda Limkun a beach operator who categorically blamed the tourists for the mess.

She said that people who eat and drink on the beach just don't clean up after themselves.

Furthermore tourists on boat trips just toss their trash in the sea meaning it washes up on the shore.

The authorities have been slow to react to the latest eyesore of rubbish, she added.

Thaivisa notes that the Sophon story merely mentioned "nak thong thiaw" or tourists - no nationalities were named in their Facebook article.

A total ban on tourists (and families) to the world class resort is in order. No Tourists...No Mess! Close Pattaya for 2 years like they did at Maya Bay in Phuket, that will solve the problem. As a ma

And I am sure this good citizen who works apparently on the beach, spends a good part of the day cleaning up as best she can, right? LOL. Perhaps if she did, her squawking might be more acceptable.

Thais don't pick up rubbish to keep their own country clean. Just blame the hand that feeds you!

Much of that appears to have come in with the tide, and is a consequence of all the garbage dropped by locals that end up in the rivers and streams which of course go straight out to sea. The blame lies much closer to home than Ms. Limkum believes.

I also note that as someone who makes her money from tourism, she has a pretty piss poor view of her customers.

Of course its the tourists. Its only the foreigners that come to Pattaya,  install drains and poorly constructed pipes that allows overflowing raw sewage into the bay.  Of course its foreigners because as soon as they get here they charter a cargo vessel, anchor just outside of the bay and pump their bilges straight to the gulf. Of course its foreigners for allowing the Thai venders to throw their grease and garbage down the drains.

Of course its foreigners.  And then no doubt whomever can be credited with this mickey mouse reporting will then be complaining that foreigners don't understand the way Thais do things !!!

As a matter of fact, why not shut all of Thailand off to tourists, make it the pristine clean country they try SO hard to achieve. Damn tourists!

But ok for Thais to sit on the beach, pick their noses flicking "bogies" everywhere and spitting large lumps of phlegm everywhere on the sand is ok, 'cos its a Thai tradition !!!

There is only one solution:

Ban all tourists!

Oh.....wait......????

Those pesky tourists, coming here and littering... Shocking, ban them from coming.

After all Thai people always pickup up their litter and take it home, or bin it.:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

I was in Jomtien the last holiday which was an official factory holiday, and the mess was from the Thai tourists from around the area and not the white foreign ones. The News agencies and Thai's better watch how they use the word tourists.

Of course.  Tourists are to blame for ALL of Thailand's problems. Once they get rid of all the farang, it will be paradise. ????

  • Popular Post

Like some people here already mentioned, banning tourism in Thailand would turn the country back into the paradise it once was decades ago.
But banning tourism and getting rid of all those foreigners (start with those nasty farang!) will eliminate crime in Thailand since we all know that the ALIEN is the root of all evil.

Here are three pics I shot in January 2016 at Pattaya Beach. A real world class gem everyone would like to visit!

Just take a look at that pristine, white sand and the turquoise, clean water.

Judging by the litter having been in the sea, it's more likely Whirled Class.

Tourists generate billions of baht, if the Thais weren't so greedy part of those billions should go to keeping those beaches in pristine condition. Who do you see collecting rubbish on the beaches? Westerners (Tourists). Thais should get their own house in order before blaming others.

Five foreign tourists have spent their holidays collecting rubbish along Laem Pong Beach in Krabi

So the answer to the pollution problem in Thailand is to increase the value of the Baht. Seems they're already on the right track...

Are you sure? We've heard nothing for months about how the Thai-China railway is progressing.

Looks like the Garbage they take out to sea and DUMP has come back in with the Tides & Currents , but yes its to easy just blame the Falang!!

should have read the thread first lol, this has been well covered

I think it is the Bangkok tourists. It was a long Thai holiday. I am sure it also has nothing to do with dumping the garbage scows into the Gulf out of sight.
