Actor Peggy Lipton Dies, Aged 72

Peggy Lipton, who found success as an actor, singer and model, has died. She was 72.

Lipton was born in New York in 1946, and raised by Harold, a corporate lawyer and Rita, an artist.

Suffering abuse at the hands of an uncle, she was initially a nervous, withdrawn child, and had to deal with a stutter.

In 1964, the family moved to Los Angeles. While her New York background helped to kickstart her modelling career, LA sparked acting jobs, Lipton signing up with Universal Pictures.

RIP. I may have watched one Mod Squad when it came out.

I loved Twin Peaks, her role of diner owning Norma, and "Where pies go to die"... may she be in cherry pie heaven, serving up damn fine coffee

Gad, where does the time go???????

Seems not so long ago I was hanging out for the next episode of TP nearly THIRTY YEARS ago.

Best series ever, IMO. I'd love them to do a remake, but without the barking bits.

Loved the music. Badalamenti was a genius. Still like to listen to the soundtrack music.

RIP Peggy.

Amazing life, married to Quincy Jones, and mother of Rashida and Kidada Jones.

How do you know an "Amazing life"?

I HOPE she had an Amazing Life, but I have absolutely no idea from watching TV.

It's like when Brad and Jen split up. Some were horrified, as they thought Jen was "hot" and Brad was livin' the dream. Doesn't occur to some people that just because the woman is "hot" on screen it doesn't necessarily translate to actual real life.

BTW, when did "actresses" become "actors"?

I think Actresses became Actors roughly 10 years ago.

They didn't do a remake, but they did continue the series many years after the first series ended. It was called Twin Peaks: The Return.

I duuno, was trying to encapsulate both my knowledge of her life (body of work, times, celebrity, family) and that expressed by her daughters, loved ones and others who knew her well.

Pardon me for being positive in reflection.
