Mystery falling child case: CCTV reveals terrifying reality

Caption: She fell after playing

Still shots taken from CCTV showed an immigration policeman's child playing on a corridor balcony at a top Pattaya hotel moments before she fell.

The child - aged just five - fell in the early hours of Sunday morning as her father slept in the room. She survived with serious injuries.

It had earlier been a mystery as to what had exactly happened to the child.

She has now been transferred to Chonburi Hospitral, reported Sanook.

They quoted Pol Col Prawit Chorseng - the Pattaya station chief - as saying that parents should look after their children.

The child was simply playing and would not have appreciated the danger and it was up to parents to make sure their children were safe.

The child is the daughter of an immigration policeman who was at the Jomtien hotel for a seminar, it had earlier been reported.

Conflicting reports in the Thai media yesterday suggested that the fall had been from the 5th or 12th floors.

The floor was not mentioned in today's Sanook report.

Hope there is jail time for the cop for negligence.

Wow, pretty awkward, sour comments here. All the best for the little girl!

What complete BS, These kind of tragedies could happened to anyone.

We are not talking about a baby here(she is one year before school).

It gets me when people are being such wiseguys on the expense of others misfortune.

Sad.  Looks like trying to slide down the bannister or stairway rail.  Something like that can be quite tempting for a child.  In the house I grew up in we had steps that led to the upstairs and a fine handrail for sliding down.  In retrospect we could have easily fallen off to the side and gone down about 15 feet.

Yes, anyone that doesn't take care of their child at all times.

It's a parents' duty.

He was sleeping and child likely snuck out of the room.  It was early in the morning.

That pic looks like the corridor. So she managed to get out of the room as well.

Tragic.

A 4 year old can unlock a door ?

If that is the case, then the door should have been securely locked so the child could not get out.

Your answer makes it OK for the child to get out.

Either way, the parents are responsible.

I think most of us sometimes look back on our childhood and shudder when we think of some of the stupid and very dangerous things we got away with.

My hope is that this little girl will fully recover from her injuries and go on with her life.
