Specifics about "Thai-Gold" ?

Featured Replies

Sorry, but it has been a very, very long time since I bought a charming Lady in Thailand some Gold. So I don't remember much about any details. I only remember that the Bid/Ask spread is much lower than in my home-country.

4 questions:

- Is there the usual "sales-tax" (VAT) also on Thai-Gold? (not talking Jewellery, only small Bars or coins).

- Can I buy "Kruegerrands" or "American Eagles", "Canadian Leafs" in an average Gold shop in Thailand with the traditional low Bid/Ask spread appliying to other "Gold-Products"? (The Bid/Ask spread for those items are prohitively massive in my home-country!)

- "Thai-Gold" is high in Karat. Someone ever tried to sell "Thai-Gold" in Europe to your Bank, for example? (Small Bars or Coins only).

- I could imagine that due to it's "high Karat content" Thai Gold is not freely tradable outside of Thailand. (right/wrong?)
Any experiences anyone?

I trust that there are some "Gold-Bugs" on this Forum that can enlighten me.

-no sales tax,

-no Kruegers, Eagles, Leaves,

-Thai gold is lower in karat than bullion traded outside Thailand,

-because of its lower gold content there's no demand.
