A million to one double! Thai owned Bangkok set to run in Epsom Derby

A Thai owned racehorse is set to run in one of the most famous and oldest races on the planet - the Derby at Epsom on Saturday June 1st.

Bangkok was purchased by former Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha who was tragically killed in a helicopter accident late last year.

Vichai had a dream that the colt would give him an incredible double. Leicester City won the English Premiership at odds of 5,000 to 1 and his horse was 25-1.

Following the three year old's April win in a classic trial at Sandown the horse is now at odds of around 12 -1 to give King Power Racing a first classic triumph.

The Derby - one of five 'classics' was first run in 1780. It is called the "Blue Riband" of the turf and is the richest horse race in England.

It is run over just over one and a half miles at Epsom in Surrey on the first Saturday in June each year.
