Hi there. I will be getting my 6th annual Visa around August 2007. in the past I have about this time, moved the cash requirements for the Visa to Thailand from the U K. This started @ 200kBaht Then later on it was 400K baht.

As the Baht is so strong now, and not a good time to move cash, I was thinking to show part cash in my THai bank and the rest my pension and other UK income.

Can anyone tell me just in what form do I submit that proof of income?

Also I saw a piece on the site concerning "the Grandfather clause" As I have been submitting the same visa now for 5 yrs, how does this affect me??

I have kept to the original visa application every year, Thai wife, retired. But last year our Son was born .(he has dual nationality) but we kept to the same visa!

Many thanks for any info and your comments. Its always so good to get help and i'm sure the info is some place on the site but could not see it.

Cheers

Pip

You have been using bank deposit for support Thai wife and that provision has ended except for you and others that have been using it. That is the grandfather provision.

The new requirement is that money must be in account for a period of 3 months prior to extension application - but do not believe this has been enforced yet as most are not aware of the rule.

To use income it must meet requirements of the UK Embassy and they will list it in a letter that you present to Immigration. Immigration may or may not ask to see the supporting paperwork.

If you are over age 50 there may be another option that does not require financial proofs but it has only been approved for a select few customers of Sunbelt in Bangkok to our knowledge and I would not recommend you give up your grandfather provision.
