Mitsubishi Triton

When I bought mine (not Plus by the way), I requested the manual in English. After about 6 weeks of asking, I got a bunch of PDF files on cd, but not really what I was looking for, which was all the service and maintenance info. Seems like Mitsu deliberatly dont put any service stuff in the manuals (like how to change the fuel filter or oil filter) because they want you to pay Mitsu to do the servicing. This is different to Isuzu which has lots of useful maintenance stuff in their manual. I did not get all the maintenance schedule stuff in English, so will need to translate the Thai :o Oil/oil filter needs changing every 10K km; not sure about the fuel filter (and have not hunted around yet to work out where it is but I did a quick look and could not find it in the engine compartment).

If you have any better luck in getting a manual, let me know.

Other than that had no real problems in the 6 months I have had one (apart from having to get the air con coolent replaced). So overall quite happy with my purchase and I think the Triton is very refined and car like for a pickup.

Its amazing how smooth the engine is when you get the oil/filter replaced :D

Let me know if u get one. I got fed up with asking and after some time I really felt I was a problem for them. Not exactly good service? Maybe I will need to wait for the Haynes UK manual to come for a decent manual? To be honest, not much maintenance to do on a desciel pickup. My old Isuzu which I bought from new just needed oil/filter changes, occasional fuel and air filter changes, and I bled the brakes every two years or so. Thats about it. Liklyhood of disk brakes/pads wearing out on a low loaded pickup even after 10 years is unlikely (and it did not happen)! Checking oil in rear axel, etc, was a waste of time.

PS: Oil filter looks the same as on old Isuzu's (old Isuzu 2.5, 2.8 and 3.0 use the same oil filter), and the filter can be changed from the top. So oil/filter changes will be a doddle. I think the new Isuzu 2.5 engine is the same as the Mitsu one, but with different plastic on the top. On my old Isuzu pretty much everything under the bonnet was made by Mitsu (and also the brakes), so Isuzu is small on the world scale when it comes to pickups.

HI MaiChi .... one thing I was wondering ( I forgot to ask at the Dealers) is ...

if the Triton Automatic has a sealed

transmission, or a transmission where you can change the transmission

Fluid filter, similar to the normal engine oil filter, ive been told that on

Some makes you can drop the auto transmission pan and in side there’s a fluid filter,

But on some makes you cannot drop the transmission pan to change a

Transmission fluid filters…? .

I found this link.... http://nla.gov.au/anbd.bib-an000040660173

which may be the same as you were talking about...?

thanks,......

Hi, I got an English Owners manual with my Triton when I bought it last October. Cost me an extra 200 Bht and although its a little basic is worth the cost.

Got it from Kanchanaburi Mitsubishi dealership near the bridge and cant recommend them highly enough.

To the poster who asked about the Auto Transmission fluid the manual makes no mention of a transmission fluid filter. Make of that what you will.
