BANGKOK, 1 June 2019 (NNT) - The Chart Thai Pattana Party has reached a unanimous resolution to join in the setting up of a coalition led by the Palang Pracharath Party and to vote for Prayut Chan-o-cha as prime minister. The Democrat Party has been reserved over the issue, pending the settling of problems within the Palang Pracharath Party.

The executive board of the Chart Thai Pattana Party yesterday resolved to join the Palang Pracharath Party in setting up the coalition government and considered all seven measures of policy and 40-years-plus experiences of the party are compatible with those of the Palang Pracharath Party. The Chart Thai Pattana Party has decided to vote for the candidate for prime minister to be nominated by the Palang Pracharath Party. However, the alleged allocation of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to the Chart Thai Pattana Party has not been discussed or concluded as yet.

The Democrat Party has not as yet decided whether or not to join in the coalition, pending the settling of problems within the Palang Pracharath Party. The Democrat Party has insisted that the constitution be amended and hand-to-mouth problems be included in government policy. The alleged condition on which a new prime minister be voted ahead of the allocation of cabinet portfolios has not been discussed as yet.

Meanwhile, the Palang Pracharath Party’s Sam Mit Group leader Somsak Thepsuthin has denied that his faction might defect from the Palang Pracharath Party only if he was not put in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Coooperatives. Mr. Somsak said he will definitely stay with the Palang Pracharath Party and commented that policies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives need to be implemented in accordance with those earlier pledged to the public during his electoral campaign. He said the new premier is yet to make a decision on such matters.

Ministry of Ag is obviously a position where a caring sharing minister can do great good for the country and of course, agriculture, plenty of troughs.

Depicting Thailands present political moves as a game of chess is way over the top. More a playground squabble of the school bullies. There is no level these people wont stoop to to get involved in govt corruption.

The inheritance of the country is in such experienced hands,

it is the best  farcical gathering I have seen first hand,

Did you miss the sarcasm in the last three words (plenty of troughs)?

The NEW PM is going to be learning "the taste of crow" pretty soon.

Maybe we'll get a song about it.

It does make you wonder how P will deal with opposition and their jibes and no doubt laughter in the coming months. Hopefully they will all turn up with their copies of Animal Farm for starters.

If he does not have a 44 alternative we are going to see some wonderful tantrums.

I don't think it will worry him too much. There was an article in the BP quoting a list MP and a Senator about the viability of a minority government because of the Constitution; how Prayut can pass laws through royal decrees and Senate votes; and a no confidence vote causing his defeat can result in him being simply nominated again.

Because no one was allowed to debate the charter before the referendum many were in the dark about these provisions.

My apologies, you're right, I missed the triple winks.

Somehow there will be a 44 or alternative....but we may still be treated to the tantrums.

Agriculture huh? Yep, that could be quite lucrative.
