I have a specific question. Due to work constraints, I want to obtain a new Non O multiple entry visa based on marriage before my current valid visa expires.

 

Is this possible? Will a consulate / embassy issue a new visa if the old one hasn't expired yet?

It can depend upon how long you have left on your current visa when you apply for a new visa. Most will do it during the last month of the visas validity.

They would cancel the previous visa before issuing a new one.

Thanks for the reply. My current Non o ME visa expires on 5th August. My next exit date stamp is 3rd July.

I plan to head to Savannakhet on the 10th June and drop off my documents on the 11th June.

So I'll be almost 2 months early. I guess I will have to call them to find out.

Just spoke on the phone to the staff at Savannakhet.

I've been informed that I can indeed make a new visa early (I specifically gave them my dates and it being 2 months ahead of time).

would he not get another 90 days when leaving and re-entering the country on the 3rd of July ?  or is the visa only valid till 5th August whatever he does ?

He could get another 90 days but he apparently will not be here then and expects to enter after his visa expires on the 5th of August.

I'm a freelancer and I will be heading out for work soon. I also forgot to season money here from the UK to extend my stamp (I don't like the exchange rate at the moment too).

Basically I just need to get things done ahead of time this year.

I had a similar experience in Penang Thai Consulate. Had a valid ME Non-B visa and got another one - SE ED. On entering Thailand I was asked which visa I would like to use that time.

Just received a new visa non o multiple visa based on marriage from Savannakhet.

No issues applying early. My old visa looks like it has been cancelled as it has some pen marks across it.
