Cheeky Farang
How To Make Homemade Croutons You will need 1. Sliced bread, or cut a loaf into slices. 2. 1/4 cup vegtable oil or melted butter. 3. Your favourite fresh or dried herbs and spices, ie garlic, corriander, pepper etc etc etc. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. 150 degrees C Mix your favourite fresh or dried herbs and spices with 1/4 cup vegtable oil or melted butter. Lightly brush flavoured oil on both sides of bread slices. Stack as many slices as you can cut at one time. Cut into cubes the size of your choice. Spread cubes in single layer on large baking sheet. Bake at 300 degrees F. or 150 degrees C until cubes are dry and crisp. Time will depend on the size and thickness of cubes, about 45 minutes as a guide. Let cool completely. Store in an airtight container. Use within one week or freeze up to 6 months Great with soups or on salads, or even as a snack instead of a bag of crisps/potato chips. Jet Gorgon
Thanks, Cheeky. Yum! I usually chuck stale bread ends in the freezer and when there's enough, I make croutons or bread pudding. Never waste and good taste!
