Guys heres the siutation

I have resigned from my job and will leave Thailand in June. I have the extension to stay until Feb 2008.

I take it that when i eventually leave my extension to stay will be cancelled along with my work permit. What happens then for the rest of 2007 should i wish to come back for some weekends etc?

Does the 180 day maximum that i have been reading about apply from when i leave in June or does it cover the whole year including when i have been working in which case stopping me coming back??

Ideas?

Thanks

Hello

My question is very similar - I have a work permit and will finish work in July - my immigration stamp (connected to my WP) is to Feb 2008. I intend to stay on in Thailand where I am studying , what are my options visa wise? Do I need to do these visa runs? I am unsure of all the ins and outs as my employer has taken care of everything to date.

Any advice appreciated.

Ok I did this a few months ago. My WP got cancelled I was then allowed to come back in on three tourist visas. I eventually got a new one year visa and WP.

You are aware that you MUST leave the country within seven days of your WP getting cancelled.

It would start in June if you reenter Thailand on a 30 day tourist visa exemption stamp.

Just change the extension of stay based on business to education. No need to do any visa runs.

thanks for that yes was aware of having to leave within 7 days which is fine!!

So i can come back on tourist visa's no problem, if i get visas on arrival is there a limit to the number that you can do? say i wanted to come back 6 weekends for 2 days at a time in the last 6 months of 2007 etc. I know a 1 year visa would be better but i dont want to come back to work.

I finished work in BKK and my WP was cancelled on 31 Oct 06. I got a copy of the cancellation certificate (I think it's "WP10" but may be wrong). However, nobody asked for my passport, and therefore no cancellation stamp was ever put on my Non Imm "B" visa / extension of stay.

I didn't leave Thailand until 12 Nov, flying from Suwannathingy to Singapore to start my new job, ie. I had overstayed by 5 days or so. I took the necessary funds to pay overstay, but no questions were asked - just stamped out as usual.

Not wishing to take any chances I applied for a 12mth, multiple entry Non Imm "O" visa at Singapore in Nov 06 - my wife is not moving to Singapore permanently until next year. Again, no questions about the "B" visa stamp! The only "problem" I have now is at immigration if they do spot the extension of stay - it doesn't expire until July this year so they (probably not unreasonably) think it is still valid and try to give me the full stay. I feel a tad silly having to explain that I only qualify for 90 days now (and I only ever stay for the weekend anyway)

Go figure ...
