Hi I miscalculated my 30 visa exempt entry and are here 31 days. Do I need to get a 30 day extension or can I pay a 1 day overstay fee at the airport. Also will this affect me when I return to Thailand in the future. Thanks Alan

If leaving the country from either airport in Bangkok you will not be fined for a overstay of less than 24 hours. They just put a note in your passport that you overstay less than 24 hours.

At other airports or at a border crossing you will be fined 500 baht.

A one day overstay should not cause any problems in the future.
