do they have a licence?

no idea but a thai owned hotel

wouldn't they want to pretend and go through the motions of passport info?

is reporting a foreign national staying at their hotel somehow connected to paying taxes?

I would say taxes are a big part of it, and probably why a large number of condo landlords are not filing tm 30's..

You're probably right but with the explosion of illegal rentals of foreign owned condos decimating the hotel industry, it has woke them up. The cocking of the .44 today indicates to me that people better get their ducks in a row, this isn't like hiding income from your home country.
