LeBron James has tweeted to confirm that Space Jam 2 is finally starting shooting - 23 years after the original film was released.

Rumours circled for years but confirmation of the sequel came late last year and it will be complete with pro basketball player LeBron James - who is set to replace the 1996 original, Michael Jordan.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) will serve as producer, while Terence Nance - who created HBO's Random Acts of Flyness and directed the experimental film The Oversimplification of Her Beauty - will direct.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, LeBron James said that when he grew up in Akron, Ohio, there were no black superheroes, which made Coogler a huge draw for him, adding: "I loved his vision for Black Panther".
