BANGKOK, 26 June 2019(NNT) - The United Nations General Assembly has declared June 26 the world’s Anti-Drugs Day. Thailand has organized anti-drugs activities while certificates of honor have been awarded to persons and organizations that have outstandingly contributed to the suppressing of illicit drugs in society.

Office of Narcotics Control Board Secretary General, Niyom Termsrisuk said today that Thailand has seriously and continually tackled the drug problem and has organized anti-drugs activities which have been carried out for the last 30 years and throughout this month. They include the public destruction of drugs which have been seized as material evidence and drug trafficking suspects have finally been sentenced in court. That presents an assurance that the destroyed drugs can not harm society again. Over 16 tons of drugs were incinerated today.

In addition, plaques and certificates of honor were awarded to persons and organizations for having contributed notably to the prevention of illegal drug use. The event took place at the Army Club. Members of the public are encouraged to unite to disrupt and suppress the illegal drug trade in accordance with the government’s anti-drug measures.

Other anti-drug measures call for cooperation between Thailand and neighboring countries in an effort to prevent the Golden Triangle from being used as a major drug producing area. Thailand has supported measures by neighboring countries to prevent the distribution of illicit drugs and rehabilitate drug addicts. Besides, villagers in the Golden Triangle area have been provided with alternative occupations and have seen their quality of life improved. Demand for drugs by new addicts especially youths has been reduced, while those who may have become addicted earlier and then been rehabilitated have been discouraged from ever using drugs again. They have been brought back to live a normal happy life alongside other members of society.

Science has shown alcohol is the most harmful drug to society by far.

A small graphic failed to load here, but its easy found online.

So if alcohol is the worst, and we see very few hopeless alcoholics in the general public, and here's the kicker, millions of us enjoy a few beers, and live productive lives.

By extension, they are lying through their teeth about the others!

We see even fewer of the 'junkies'  that certain posters seem to fear and loathe for some strange reason.

It's mostly just made up along with the drivel that passes for news in the story above.

Cin-cin!
