Marriage Visa At Savannakhet

Featured Replies

I am hoping someone can answer this query please (especially Ubonjoe) regarding Marriage Visa at Savannakhet.

I have/had a Marriage Visa extension valid to Feb 2020.  Unfortunately on a recent trip out of Thailand I totally forgot to get my re-entry permit.   Subsequently the latter MV was made void, and for the first time ever, I had to come back into Thailand on a Tourist Visa.

My questions therefore are:

1.    Can I apply for Non-O Marriage Visa at Savannakhet when PP shows a Tourist Visa Stamp as the most recent?

2.   Would Savannakhet be "accommodating" when they can see that there was a valid MV extension to Feb 2020, and in particular, that the IO at BKK was kind enough to write under the Tourist Visa stamp that PP holder forgot to get re-entry permit on Page ....

3.    Someone has made mention that I would have to get a 3 month Non-O at another Consulate before applying for the 12 Month Non-O MV at Savannakhet since Savannakhet does not provide 3 month Non-O's

4.    Could someone confirm which are the 'busy' days at Suvannakhet since Visa Runs are now done there.   Is it Mon & Thurs or Tues & Frid?

Many thanks in advance for those that could clarify the above for me.

1. Yes

2. They would not care about that.

3. You can get a single or multiple entry non-o visa at Savannakhet. No need to have a single entry non-o prior to applying for a multiple entry non-o.

4. Monday and Thursday. Best is to go on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thanks VERY much for your clarifications Ubonjoe.    Appreciate your response so quickly.

If this happened to me (forgot the reentry permit) surely one can just go to local IO inside Thailand a restart marriage extension process again with the funds on the bank? No need to go to Laos?

Correct, providing he still had at least 15 days permission to stay left from the TV entry.

Convert TV to Non O, back onto extensions.

Actually, from reports I have read, it is often easier to travel outside Thailand to obtain the visa then go through the immigration conversion process for marriage.

There’s no need to leave the country if you don’t want to. You could apply for a new non ‘O’ visa in Thailand that will give you a 90 day stay. Towards the end of 90 days you could apply for a 1 year extension.

You need at least 15 (maybe 21) days left of your tourist entry (or subsequent extension of stay for tourism) to be able to apply for the non ‘O’. If necessary you could apply for a 60 day extension (to visit your wife) before applying for a non ‘O’ in country or at Savannahket.
